The toilet seat has a more modern and luxurious model and design. This type of toilet is also considered more comfortable to use for some people, such as the elderly, large pregnant women, or people with knee injuries. However, the price of a toilet seat does tend to be more expensive than a squat toilet. Defecating using a toilet seat is considered to be no healthier than a traditional toilet or squat toilet. Based on research, defecating using a toilet seat requires more time and more energy when compared to a squat toilet. In fact, too hard to push when defecating and or sitting too long on the toilet seat can increase the risk of a number of diseases, such as hemorrhoids and constipation. In addition, the use of a toilet seat increases a person's risk of contracting diseases such as diarrhea, flu, to skin infections. This is because the toilet seat requires direct contact with the surface of the toilet seat which is prone to become a den of bacteria, such as E. coli and Shigella, or the hepatitis A and norovirus viruses that cause diarrhea.Weaknesses and Strengths of Squat Toilets
Compared to toilet seat, squat toilet does have weaknesses in appearance, namely:- The model is old-fashioned.
- Considered less comfortable to use. Squatting during bowel movements can cause pain in the heel and thigh.
- Not suitable for use by people who have ankle disorders, such as arthritis sufferers, sprains, broken bones, to tendonitis.
